Coast Guard rescues 2 fishermen
BARNSTABLE, Mass.—The U.S. Coast Guard says it has rescued two fishermen from a sinking boat near Barnstable, Massachusetts.
Officials say they received a distress call at about 2 p.m. Sunday that a 17-foot fishing vessel was taking on water.
A rescue crew found the boat just east of Beach Point and brought the two men safely to shore. They're expected to be OK.
Officials say the boat is anchored on a sand bar and is set to be salvaged.
As the weather starts to warm up, Coast Guard officials are urging boaters and fishermen to stay alert and have the correct life-saving gear aboard their boat.
