Boston mayor to form city casino advisory board
BOSTON—Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is forming a special commission to help oversee the casino debate in the state's largest city.
In his annual state of the city speech Tuesday night, Menino said he'll form a Boston Gaming Advisory Board with leaders from outside city government.
Menino said the board will help guarantee what Menino called "transparency" for Boston residents during the casino review process.
The formation of the advisory board comes as the city eyes one of three newly created casino licenses for the Suffolk Downs racetrack in East Boston.
