Ex-deputy fire chief acquitted in fraud case

A Boston district fire chief was acquitted yesterday of pension fraud in federal court, the second firefighter to be cleared in the pension scandal that rocked the department. The case against former District Fire Chief James Famolare was dismissed before it went to the jury, with US Senior District Judge Edward F. Harrington ruling from the bench that there was insufficient evidence to find the defendant guilty.
