West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes in Shrewsbury and Auburn last week, according to Public Health officials from both towns. Shrewsbury will conduct some “low-volume area spraying in the neighborhoods the virus was found in over the next couple of days,’’ said Derek Brindisi, the director of public health for Worcester and Shrewsbury. Auburn will be spraying the affected areas Thursday, according to the town’s public health director, Andrew Pelletier. West Nile virus is usually transmitted to humans from the bite of an infected mosquito, according to a statement from the Shrewsbury Department of Public Health.
