NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—Parishioners and well-wishers are expected to say a final farewell to a Roman Catholic priest who committed suicide at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart rectory in Springfield.
Rev. Paul Archambault (ARCH'-am-bault) died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the first weekend of this month. His body was found last Sunday at the rectory.
A wake is scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Northampton. The funeral and burial are scheduled for Tuesday.
The 42-year-old priest was a part-time assistant pastor at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hampden and chaplain at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was ordained in 2005.
Bishop Timothy McDonnell said Archambault was "a good and pastoral priest, a caring chaplain and a devout man."
