A former Boston police officer accused of faking his injuries and fraudulently collecting injury leave pay was sentenced to a year and three months in prison yesterday, US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz said. Eliezer Gonzalez, 50, of Boston, had pleaded guilty in federal court to 34 counts of mail fraud Feb. 28, Ortiz said. He had collected about $173,000 in injury leave pay and had filed for accidental disability retirement after supposedly suffering on-the-job injuries in 2007. But Gonzalez, while on leave, was seen going to the L Street Bathhouse, salsa dancing, and traveling abroad without difficulty, Ortiz said.
