CHELSEA, Mass.—Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Chelsea last month.
Authorities say 22-year-old Luis Gabriel Escalante is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of motor vehicle homicide.
Police say 36-year-old Julio Vaquerano of Revere was struck near the intersection of Blossom and Maple streets in Chelsea on the night of Dec. 14. The driver of the vehicle that struck him then allegedly fled the scene.
Police responding to a 911 call found Vaquerano suffering from major trauma including a head injury. He was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Escalante was arrested Wednesday. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
