SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Four supermarkets in Connecticut will reopen next month as Big Y stores.

The supermarkets in West Hartford, Branford, Old Lyme and Mystic were among seven A&P stores in Connecticut purchased by Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y Foods, Inc.

The company says the sale will be completed on Nov. 1. All of the stores will then close for a brief period, with the West Hartford and Branford locations reopening Nov. 5 and the Mystic and Old Lyme stores on Nov. 11.

Big Y says it is still evaluating the future of the three other stores it purchased in Middleton, Naugatuck and East Haven.
