FITCHBURG, Mass.—Commuters who ride the MBTA's Fitchburg rail line have been told to expect delays this week.
The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. is converting some portions of the line from a single to a double track with the longterm goal of speeding up service.
But starting Monday, riders who board at stations in Fitchburg, Leominster and Shirley will be bused to the South Acton station at certain times of day to catch the train.
An MBCR spokesman tells The Sentinal and Enterprise that busing could cause service delays of up to 25 minutes.
The delays are expected to last about a week.
