State and city officials are investigating the death of an East Boston man who was found under a concrete barrier yesterday at Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in South Boston.

State and Massachusetts Port Authority police pronounced the 50-year-old Massport employee dead when they arrived just after 3 p.m. at 1 Black Falcon Ave., said Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

The man had been trapped inside one of the Massport warehouses, Wark said. There were no signs of violence or foul play, he said.

The district attorney’s office did not release the victim’s name or further details because the matter is under investigation and out of regard for the man’s family, Wark said.

Lisa Langone, Massport spokeswoman, also said the agency would not release further information because of the investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones,’’ Langone said.

Friends at the scene described the man as a hard worker and a loving father.
