Voters in Boston and 53 other cities and towns across Massachusetts will head to the polls today for municipal elections. In 35 of those communities, voters will elect mayors.
In Boston, nine candidates are vying for four at-large seats on the Boston City Council. District councilors in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury and the South End are facing challengers for their seats today. In Allston-Brighton, two candidates are vying for an open district council seat.
There will be nonbinding questions on gambling and casinos in Chicopee, Pittsfield, and Worcester, though none of those locations has been publicly identified as a potential site by developers.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a few exceptions: They open at 6 a.m. in Franklin; at 8 a.m. in Agawam, Attleboro, Fitchburg, Holyoke, Pittsfield, Watertown, and West Springfield; at 9 a.m. in North Adams; and at 10 a.m. in Gardner. The polls close at 7 p.m. in Chicopee, Lawrence, Methuen, North Adams, and Westfield.
