Fruity Pebbles Chicken, Braised Pork Belly S’mores, and Spam Sushi may sound like culinary jokes, but this week, they’re not.
The new TV show’s website says Spike is searching for the “newest food craze,” and will feature amateur chefs “using outrageous and unexpected ingredients in delicious and unique flavors.”
Fried Slim-Jim Mac-N-Cheese Balls?
Yeah, that sounds pretty ‘outrageous’ to us.
Boston was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the 10 cities where a Frankenfood truck would try out its “revolutionary culinary creations.”
Thursday, June 19, the truck will be serving food at Constant Contact in Waltham from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday, June 20, you can catch some of the odd grub at the Belvidere Science Center on Mass. Ave. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The show premieres on Spike on Sunday, June 22, so if you don’t get the chance to try the Pork Belly S’mores, which is “pork belly covered in Guinness and chocolate with a cayenne and paprika dusted marshmallow,” you’ll be able to tune in to feast your eyes on the chefs’ creations at 10 p.m. We hear “fried PB&J fish sticks” and “triple-decker pastrami donut sandwiches” aren’t out of the question.
