A Lunenburg woman was arrested this morning after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with an ax, police said.
Rhonda Ravanis was charged with attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon over the alleged attack on her boyfriend, Robert Volpe, WBZ-TV reports.
Ravanis was also charged with vandalizing property and resisting arrest after she allegedly damaged a door and broke a neighbor’s window, police said.
Volpe is now in stable, but critical condition after being rushed to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, The Fitchburg Sentinel and Enterprise reported.
According to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s office, Ravanis refused to cooperate with authorities in Fitchburg District Court today, and was ordered to be held without bail until she does, The Boston Globe reports.
Prosecutors said they will seek to have the 47-year-old Ravanis held under the state's dangerousness law whenever she is formally arraigned on charges of attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, vandalizing property, and resisting arrest.
The case remains under investigation.
