Town Meeting members last week approved a $140.5 million budget for next fiscal year that calls for $3.3 million in additional property taxes, prompting local officials to prepare a special townwide vote on a proposed Proposition 2½ override to provide the funds, said Hans Larsen, the town’s executive director. The override’s proceeds would be used mostly to cover a school budget that includes implementing full-day kindergarten and offering new language courses. Larsen said he expects the Board of Selectmen to schedule the special election in late May or early June.
