A total of 208 residents dispatched 42 articles in about six hours as Rockport held its annual Town Meeting on April 5. Residents approved an article to remove the police chief’s position from civil service regulations, which will give the Board of Selectmen the option of hiring outside applicants for the position. Residents also approved sea-wall and storm-damage repairs to Pigeon Cove ($780,000), Granite Pier ($112,500), and Back Beach($87,000). A capital request for $28,000 for voting machines was rejected.
