Tuesday was Girls Hockey State Championship Day in Westwood, a designation selectmen created the previous day to honor of the Westwood High School girls’ hockey team’s first state championship. Board members presented the Wolverines with a proclamation that congratulated the team on the win against Wellesley on March 16, which ended their season at 16 wins, two losses, and five ties. They also lauded the girls individually for their play in the game, and pointed to senior goaltender Siobhan Burke’s 27 saves in the final 6-2 victory. The proclamation was signed by Chairman Nancy C. Hyde and colleagues Philip N. Shapiro and Patrick J. Ahearn.
