A Suffolk County jury has acquitted 23-year-old Mattapan man who was charged in a May 2010 slaying in Dorchester.
Lavonrence Perkins was charged with first-degree murder and related offenses for the May 7, 2010, shooting death of 22-year-old Cordell McAfee, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said.
The acquittal came on the jury’s first full day deliberations.
It was the second trial for Perkins. A jury had previously deadlocked on the charge in 2012.
McAfee was sitting on the porch of a Roseland Street home with a relative when two gunmen walked up and began shooting shortly before 6:30 p.m. that day.
McAfee was struck twice and died of his injuries. The second man fled and was not injured.
