Firefighters battle blaze in Chelsea house

Nearly the entire Chelsea Fire Department battled a blaze on Medford Street Tuesday morning, a fire dispatcher said. The fire occurred in a three-family brick home, said the dispatcher. No injuries were reported. Firefighters did rescue three parakeets and a chinchilla mix, Deputy Chief Robert T. Cameron said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and Cameron said damage was estimated at $35,000 to the structure and $10,000 to property inside. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
