The Fore River Bridge between Quincy and Weymouth was stuck temporarily in the up position on its northbound side Saturday afternoon, police said.
The Route 3A bridge became locked in position at about 4:50 p.m., said Sergeant John Kelly. An hour later, the bridge was still stuck in place and a “bridge technician” was said to be inspecting.
By 6:30 p.m., the bridge was no longer stuck in place, according to Weymouth police dispatcher Beth Marcella.
It was not clear if the bridge had been raised to let a ship pass underneath, Kelly said.
Both Kelly and Marcella were not able to comment on traffic congestion due to the stuck bridge.
