The US Coast Guard said there were no injuries or damage after an MBTA ferry ran aground on a sandbar near Hingham. The Coast Guard said the 97-foot passenger boat Massachusetts grounded about 5:30 p.m. Friday when the ferry was near the Hingham Back River. The Hingham harbormaster and State Police responded, along with the Coast Guard. State Police safely transferred the nine passengers to shore. The ferry had five crew members. The Coast Guard said the ferry was not damaged and was being towed back to Rowes Wharf in Boston Friday night. Routine drug and alcohol tests have been conducted on the crew, as is procedure.
