A man was rushed to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries this morning after he rear-ended a tractor-trailer in his BMW on Route 3 in Rockland, State Police said.
The BMW was traveling north on the highway about 11:30 a.m. when it hit the tractor-trailer. The vehicle’s operator was rushed to the South Shore Medical Center with injuries State Police described as severe and life-threatening.
Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman, said the injured man was the only passenger in the car.
The operator of the tractor-trailer did not report any injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation, said Nolan.
The left lane on the northbound side of the highway will remain closed as a collision investigation team examines the area, State Police said.
