30 sick cats rescued from Savoy ‘kitten mill’

Animal welfare authorities rescued more than 30 sick cats from what was apparently a kitten mill run out of a Savoy home. Carrie Loholdt, the town’s animal control officer, said the homeowner faces multiple animal cruelty charges. The homeowner’s name was not made public. Authorities searched the home last week after neighbors complained. Loholdt told the Berkshire Eagle that the cats were being sold online. She said many of the cats suffered from severe upper respiratory infections. They will be kept at shelters until they are ready for adoption.
