Crashes north and south of Boston on I-93 hinder morning traffic; one person killed in Woburn

One person was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Interstate 93 North in Woburn that involved a box truck and a passenger car, State Police said.

The crash took place near Exit 37C shortly before 10 a.m., and forced the closure of two righthand lanes on I-93, State Police said. Traffic was expected to be affected on Tuesday until the investigation was completed, State Police said.

The box truck rolled over to the right of the highway. No additional details were immediately available.

A short time later, a trash hauler jackknifed on the Southeast Expressway southbound, forcing the closure of the two lefthand lanes near South Bay Center, police said. Around 10:45 a.m., State Police reported that the trash hauler crashed on the Expressway, which is the name for Interstate 93 leading south from the city.

No injuries were immediately reported, but State Police said the investigation was ongoing.
