Transit Police arrest man who allegedly offered student-pass rides for $1

MBTA Transit Police arrested a Roxbury man at Park Street Station after officers saw him offering to “tap” people into the station if they paid him $1.

James Jenkins, 48, was standing at the entry point Wednesday offering people the discounted rides on the T. He said that using a student pass he had obtained, he would “tap” people in, if they paid him $1, Transit Police said.

A plainclothes officer approached Jenkins, and he was offered the same deal, Transit Police said.
