Police found and arrested Cedric Slayden, 18, running from the scene. While being chased on foot by officers, Slayden allegedly tossed a gun from his pocket.

Police found a black and silver Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun with six rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber on the ground, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Slayden pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in Dorchester Municipal Court Thursday. Judge James Coffey set his bail at $50,000.

Coffey also revoked bail from an unrelated charge, stemming from a iPhone theft in the North End last May.

Slayden is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 3.
