State Police dog helps Spencer officers collar suspect

Frankie, a State Police dog, helped Spencer police arrest a suspect who ran from them into marshy woods on Monday night, police said. Police received a call at about midnight reporting that a man had threatened his girlfriend and had then run out of her home on East Charlton Road. Officers found there was an outstanding warrant for the arrest of James Mahoney, 40, on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, and using a motor vehicle without authority, said Sergeant John Agnew. After Mahoney fled, Frankie, a Belgian Malinois, found Mahoney in the woods and alerted the officers, police said.
