Boxborough man killed in New York highway accident

A 21-year-old Boxborough man was killed Sunday in a single-car accident on Interstate 88 in Cobleskill, N.Y., after he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control, New York State Police said.

Michael Clark was driving a 2002 Santa Fe with three passengers in the car in the westbound lane at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday when a deer entered the roadway from the center median. Attempting to avoid the deer, he swerved the car into the median, where it rolled over several times. The car came to a stop on the eastbound slope of Interstate 88.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clark and his passengers were traveling to Ithaca College. The passengers were transported by ambulance to the Albany Medical Center for treatment of various injuries.
