Dr. Eugene Mickey and Associates will once again sponsor the Chamber of Commerce’s annual tree lighting festival on the Stoneham Town Common. The event is scheduled to take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. “We are grateful to Dr. Mickey for his continued generosity and support,” notes committee chairwoman and chamber vice president Judy Sadacca of Hallmark Health System. Activities will include ice sculpting, visits with Santa, pony rides, craft making, cocoa and cookies, hot food sampling, The Memory Tree, holiday music, and caroling by the Stoneham Girl Scouts. The event will end with the official tree lighting at 4:45 p.m. During the festivities, Mickey will pull the winning ticket for a free full set of orthodontic braces, which he has donated. All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets — priced at $10 each — will be donated to the Stoneham Marathon Victims Fund. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce, 271 Main St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and at StonehamBank, 80 Montvale Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. For more information, call the chamber at 781-438-0001. In addition to the tree lighting, the Stoneham Business and Community Educational Foundation (www.sbcef.org) will have a trolley ride with Frosty from the Town Hall to the Stone Zoo for those families who wish to see the ZooLights show. The rides will cost $6 for adults and $3 for children (infants are free), and will start round trips at about 4:45 p.m. with the last pickup at the zoo at 8 p.m.
