The Dover Town Library will be joining more than 1,000 libraries around the world in celebrating International Games Day Saturday . This will be the first time that Dover participates in the event, which the American Library Association has promoted for the past five years. Kids, adults, and families are all invited to attend the celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library. It will feature a wide variety of offerings, including traditional American board games such as Monopoly and Candy Land, European board games, Asian games such as mah-jongg, and video games, according to Jim Westen, the library’s head of adult services. He said people can bring their own games or play with library games. Westen said the idea behind the day is to bring young patrons together to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others, including adults, and develop new strategies for playing games and learning.
