A Malden park was rededicated last week with a new monument for a city native who died in World War I. David Tartikoff, a Marine private, was among 350 US military personnel killed in the Battle of Belleau Wood in France in June 1918. Tartikoff Park, at 84 Willow St., was originally dedicated in his honor in 1930, but the park and its original monument fell into disrepair and the playground equipment became obsolete. The Malden Redevelopment Authority used a community block grant to renovate the park and construct a new monument. The rededication was held Nov. 6.
