The Stoughton Cultural Council is accepting proposals for grants for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs. Applications are due Oct. 15 and applicants should submit a minimum of five copies of an application. Applications will be accepted from organizations, schools, and individuals who want to apply for grants that support cultural activities in Stoughton. Grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities, including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, or workshops and lectures. The Stoughton Cultural Council has been allocated $8,240 for the current fiscal year from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. “Every year we try to select a variety of arts and humanity programs that will reach the most people,” said Teresa Tapper of the Stoughton Youth Commission, a council member. “We take into consideration the quality of the proposed program, giving preference to local events and artists.’’ Tapper said the majority of funds are distributed to support free access for public events for the community at large, for all ages. For specific guidelines on grant applications and complete information on the Stoughton Cultural Council, contact Tapper at 781-341-2252, ext. 9463, or by e-mail at email@example.com.
