The state Department of Transportation is inviting residents to a design public information meeting on Sept. 30 to discuss a proposed signal and intersection improvements in Raynham. The project calls for replacing the existing traffic signal system at Route 44 and Orchard Street, as well as signaling the Route 24 northbound off-ramp intersection with Route 44 eastbound. It also involves providing additional lanes to increase capacity, including exclusive left-turn lanes on both Route 44 approaches to Orchard Street. Sidewalks are proposed along both sides of Route 44 from Orchard Street to Paramount Drive, as well as on Orchard Street both north and south of Route 44, and measures are incorporated to aid pedestrian crossings. There is also a proposed bicycle lane. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in town hall. For more information on the project, e-mail email@example.com.
