A 23-year-old Needham resident will play one of the lead roles in a Medfield community theatre production of “Les Misérables” next month. Ben Oehlkers, a Brandeis University graduate who studies at Boston University, will play the role of Marius, an integral character who helps lead the French rebellion and plays the love interest of Cosette, Jean Valjean’s adopted daughter. Based on the classic Victor Hugo novel, “Les Misérables” is an eight-time Tony Award-winning musical that was turned into a movie starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway last year. The local production by the nonprofit Woodland Theatre Company will run Oct. 4 and 5 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 5 and 6 at 2 p.m., in the auditorium of Medfield High School on South Street.
