As Milford enters the final stage of host agreement negotiations with Foxwoods, officials in some neighboring communities are not ready to concede any ground to the Connecticut developer whose proposed casino they say will change the character of the entire region.
MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition Chairman Brian Herr, also chairman of the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen, said his group is prepared to hire its own consultants to perform independent studies on what Foxwoods has said about the traffic, economic, and social impacts on the area from the casino they plan to build at the intersection of Interstate 495 and Route 16 in East Milford.
He also said coalition towns are not ready to begin any talks with Foxwoods about how the Connecticut developer could mitigate the proposed casino’s impact on their communities.
