One of the most successful pinch hitters in baseball history, Mark Sweeney wanted to stay in the game after he retired as a player. The Holliston High graduate was working as a special assistant to Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti, along with former Red Sox players Bill Mueller and Aaron Sele. But when Fox Sports San Diego offered Sweeney a position as a color analyst on the Padres’ television network last year, he signed on.
In innings three through five, he sits next to the San Diego dugout and provides legendary play-by-play announcer Dick Enberg and analyst Mark Grant with on-the-field observations.
