On August 15, 2012, I reached the five-year anniversary of my daily running streak.
By the standards of the US Running Streak Association, this accomplishment merely bumps me from the “Neophyte” category to the “Proficient” category; the USRSA’s highest-ranked members have maintained daily streaks of 40 years or more.
Yes, it can be a challenge: weather, work, travel and physical health all pose threats to anyone who commits to running every single day. And yes, it’s a trivial pursuit.
But it’s compelling enough that I’ll stick with it as long as I can — just as more than 200 other runners listed with the USRSA have done.
