The embattled Roxbury Community College has a new chairman of its board of trustees. Governor Deval Patrick appointed Gerald Chertavian Wednesday to the post, said the Executive Office of Education. Chertavian — founder and chief executive of Year Up, a job training and education program — replaces Kathy Taylor, who is taking a job at the state Department of Higher Education. Patrick appointed Taylor as chairwoman of the RCC board last September, after several scandals at the college, including federal and state inquiries into possible lapses in crime reporting.
