The school district’s K-8 Housing Study Group has found it may be feasible for the town to close an elementary school as soon as the fall of 2016, according to a report to the School Committee dated Feb. 13. The study panel was formed in September to investigate whether closing one of the town’s four schools, based on the district’s declining enrollment figures, could save money. The committee’s 63-page report, which was posted on the school district’s website, www.nsboro.k12.ma.us, last week, addresses the alternative issues involved in closing one school and consolidating the students in the other three. The study group plans to continue its analysis, and may update its report after the 2014 fiscal year budget is completed.
