Hingham Police are urging residents to lock their cars after five people reported that their unlocked cars had been broken into between Dec. 22 and Dec. 23. According to police, the cars were in the driveways of Martins Lane, Seal Cove Lane, Martins Cove Road, and Boulder Glen Road. Some of the homes have long driveways and are not visible from the street, police said, but regardless the cars were broken into. Items stolen included a purse, a wallet, credit cards, rolled coins, phone chargers, owner manuals, car registrations, and insurance documents. Some discarded items were later found in the street. To prevent this kind of theft from occurring, Hingham police urged residents to remove valuables from their cars and lock their car doors.
