Author Suzy Duffy is writing about the women of Newton and Lincoln

Wellesley has a lure for writers, who are inspired and intrigued by its well-to-do class of suburbanites and their exotic lifestyles and problems. Dublin transplant Suzy Duffy provided her own “chick lit” take on her new hometown with the release of “Wellesley Wives” on Sept. 27.

The light and funny novel, which Duffy stressed isn’t an expose, but rather a celebration of women, follows the peaks and platitudes of Popsy Power, her two daughters and her best friend.

The book has since emerged on the Amazon Kindle top 100, and has also been picked up by Greek and Norwegian publishers — with 10 percent of all royalties going to a nonprofit organization, the Friends of Boston’s Homeless.

And watch out, other area communities — Duffy just finished “Newton Neighbors,” and is also at work on “Lincoln Ladies.”

“It’s early days,” she said, “so I’m doing research and driving around Massachusetts to get ideas.”
