New committee will promote volunteerism

The Board of Selectmen, recognizing that the success of community involvement and participatory government relies heavily on residents who dedicate countless hours to volunteer service, is forming a new Community Involvement and Volunteerism in Chelmsford Committee to recognize and acknowledge volunteers. The CIVIC Committee will be charged with increasing volunteerism and civic engagement in Chelmsford, soliciting and distributing donations to address community needs, and making recommendations to the selectmen for naming buildings, parks, and other sites for deserving residents. The committee is expected to meet monthly and will have seven members: one member from the Board of Selectman and six other community members. Individuals interested in serving are asked to submit an application by Nov. 28. The application may be submitted online by visiting the town’s home page at and clicking on the link to the committee application.
