Grant provides iPads to high school

Fifty Lexington High School sophomores will be able to access online textbooks using iPads provided through grants awarded this fall by the Lexington Education Foundation. The nonprofit organization has awarded $320,366 in grants for this school year using private donations and business sponsorships. A total of 33 grants were awarded, including almost $150,000 for technology and technology training. Sophomores in the iPad pilot program funded through the grant will also use electric note-taking on the devices and use them for writing projects. Other foundation grants include funding for an eighth-grade civics curriculum about Lexington’s 300th anniversary, as well as music, math, reading, and writing programs, and nature field guides for elementary school students.
