Bulger defense seeks more information

James “Whitey” Bulger’s defense filed a motion Friday seeking information after court-ordered meetings with the government fell through, according to documents filed by Bulger’s lawyer. The defense met twice with the government on Oct. 18 and Oct. 22, but said the prosecution was unprepared to meet discovery requests, failed to follow up, and did not respond in a timely manner, J.W. Carney Jr., a lawyer for Bulger, said in the motion. Carney wrote that many documents were “material to the preparation of [the defendant’s immunity] defense.”
