Planning Board to consider hotel proposal

A proposal to locate a Marriott Extended Stay  hotel in Burlington will be the subject of a public hearing before the Planning Board at its Aug. 16  meeting. The 139-room  hotel would be at 4 Burlington Woods Drive,  off Burlington Mall Road,  according to Anthony Fields,  the town’s planning director. Burlington Woods Building IV, LLC is seeking three special permits and site plan approval for the project. The site of the proposed hotel is near to the existing Boston Marriott Burlington, at 1 Burlington Mall Road.  Fields said that Burlington Hotel, LLC,  the property owner at 1 Burlington Mall Road, is pursuing a court appeal of a variance that the Zoning Board of Appeals granted for the Marriott Extended Stay project earlier this year. Also at its Aug. 16  meeting, the board will hold a hearing on a proposed five-lot subdivision plan for 72A Muller Road.  The applicants, Maryellen and Michael Fantasia,  seek to maintain an existing house at that location and construct four new homes behind it, according to Don Benjamin, assistant planner for the town. The board will continue its hearing into the proposed expansion of Beacon Village, the 420-unit  multi-family housing complex off Beacon Street.
