BANGOR, Maine—A Maine day care provider charged with having child pornography on his home computer is going to prison for 11 months after pleading no contest to a charge of possession of sexually explicit material.

Forty-year-old Walter Ramsdell III entered his plea Thursday in Penobscot County Superior Court in Bangor. A no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but means a defendant is not offering a defense.

Ramsdell was arrested in June at the Care-A-Lot Day Care, which is operated out of the family home in Eddington.

District Attorney Christopher Almy told the Bangor Daily News that investigators found that Ramsdell had shared child pornography on the Internet about 300 times.
