As a player, Remy was a prototypical Dirt Dog. He could field and run (41 steals in 1977 with the California Angels), and he could hit line drives (hitting .300 in 1980 and 1981). He didn't exactly have Pedroia-like power, though.

After he hit his first home run in the big leagues, a chastened Jim Perry, the aging Cy Young winner who surrendered the long ball, was traded the next day.
