Search off Stratford, Conn. for missing man
STRATFORD, Conn.—Emergency responders are looking for a man who may have been swept from a sandbar into Long Island sound near Stratford.
The Connecticut Post reports (http://bit.ly/M1jWip) that a Coast Guard spokesman says the man is reported missing off Short Beach near the mouth of the Housatonic River. The Coast Guard is using boats, a helicopter and search plane to try to find him.
Authorities said the search began about 9:20 p.m. Friday.
Stratford police and firefighters, including the fire department's marine rescue boat, also are involved. The Milford fire department also is bringing a boat to the area.
