HARTFORD, Conn.—A day after delays due to a stuck bridge in South Norwalk, more problems are expected to snarl rush hour commutes.

The commuter rail service said on its website Monday morning that maintenance work in the Park Avenue Tunnel in New York is taking longer than expected to restore electric power.

The railroad advised commuters to expect delays of 5 to 10 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and longer delays between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Delays will be along northbound and southbound trains.

The delays follow problems caused by an open Norwalk River Bridge in South Norwalk Sunday that could not close, disrupting train service on Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak.

The Hartford Courant reported that the problem was fixed by 5 p.m. Sunday.
