DANBURY, Conn.—Police have not identified a man who was shot and killed by a state trooper after a traffic stop on Interstate 84 in Danbury.
State police spokesman Shawn Corey said Saturday that once they learn the man's identity, they'll notify his family, then release his name.
The News-Times of Danbury reported that state police were helping local police pursue a stolen vehicle and a trooper pulled the vehicle over at about 6:20 p.m. on Friday
The man allegedly fled the car, and police told The News-Times he fired a gun at the trooper. Police say the man was killed when the trooper returned fire.
The trooper, whom police did not identify, was being treated for minor injuries.
The incident closed the highway for hours in both directions Friday.
