BENTON, N.H.—New Hampshire authorities say an 83-year-old man has been rescued from Mt. (--MOOSE-a-lockey--) Moosilauke after spending a night injured on a trail.

Howard Flora, of Ledyard, Conn., was hurt while hiking down from the summit of the 4,800-foot mountain in Benton on Thursday. He slept on the trail and was found -- injured and hypothermic -- Friday morning by three female hikers.

Rescuers hiked three miles to him, carried him a half-mile up to the summit and loaded him into a helicopter that flew him to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon. He was listed in stable condition there Friday night.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Lt. Todd Bogardus says Flora was lucky.
